Our Privacy Commitment
Your data belongs to you. Here's what we promise:
Privacy: We don't read your stuff. Your journal entries, conversations with Seluna, and personal reflections are private. No human at Seluna Care reads, monitors, or reviews your personal content.
No AI Training: We don't train AI on your data. Your conversations are NOT used to train any AI models — not ours, not Anthropic's. Ever.
No Data Sales: We don't sell your data. We will never sell your personal information to anyone.
Partner Privacy: Your partner can't see your private content. If you connect with a partner, they only see shared insights and goals — never your individual journal entries, private conversations, mood logs, or personal reflections.
Full Deletion: You can delete everything. When you delete your account, your personal data is deleted within 30 days. No tricks, no hidden retention.

3. How We Share Your Information
3.1 With Your Consent
Partner Sharing
When you connect with a partner, the following is shared:
- Shared insights (generated from both partners' assessments)
- Shared goals and progress
- Program completion status
NOT shared with partners:
- Your individual assessment responses
- Your private journal entries
- Your personal Seluna conversations
- Your mood logs and emotional tracking data
- Images shared during coaching sessions
- Your personal focus areas and action plans
When Partners Unlink
If you or your partner disconnect your accounts:
- Each partner retains their own individual data (journal, conversations, mood logs, program progress)
- Shared couple profile data and shared insights are no longer accessible to either partner
- Shared goals and relationship wins data may be retained in each partner's account history
- Either partner may link with a different partner in the future
Coach Sharing (Guided Plan)
When you book a coaching session, your coach may access:
- Your assessment summary and attachment style (to personalize the session)
- Your program progress (to understand where you are in your journey)
Your coach does NOT have access to:
- Your private journal entries
- Your AI coaching conversations
- Your mood logs
- Your individual assessment responses
You control what you share verbally during sessions.
3.2 Service Providers
We share information with trusted service providers who assist us in:
- AI processing: Anthropic (Claude) processes your coaching messages, assessment context, and any images you share during sessions to generate personalized responses. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their privacy policy and our data processing agreement with them. Your data is not used by Anthropic to train their models.
- Cloud hosting and data storage (e.g., PostgreSQL database providers)
- Payment processing (e.g., Stripe — we do not store full payment card numbers)
- Email communications (e.g., Resend for transactional emails such as password resets)
- Analytics (using anonymized data)
- Customer support tools
All service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and process it only for the purposes we specify.
3.3 Coach Sharing (Guided Plan)
When you book a coaching session, your coach may access:
- Your assessment summary and attachment style (to personalize the session)
- Your program progress (to understand where you are in your journey)
Your coach does NOT have access to:
- Your private journal entries
- Your AI coaching conversations
- Your mood logs
- Your individual assessment responses
You control what you share verbally during sessions.
3.4 Third-Party AI Processing (Important Disclosure)
Your personal data is shared with a third-party AI provider. When you use Seluna's AI coaching features, your messages, assessment context, and any images you share are transmitted to Anthropic (the company behind Claude) for processing. This is necessary to provide personalized coaching responses.
- Anthropic processes your data solely to generate coaching responses on our behalf
- Anthropic does not use your data to train AI models under our commercial agreement
- Data is transmitted via encrypted connection (TLS)
- We maintain a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) with Anthropic governing how your data is handled
- By using AI coaching features, you consent to this data processing. You may stop using AI features at any time
3.5 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required to:
- Comply with applicable laws or legal processes
- Respond to lawful requests from public authorities
- Protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property
- Enforce our Terms of Service
3.6 Business Transfers
If Seluna Care is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you of any such change.
3.7 Aggregated and De-Identified Data
We may share aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably be used to identify you. For example:
- "65% of users report improved communication after completing Program X"
- Research publications using anonymized data
4. Data Retention
4.1 Active Accounts
We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide Services.
4.2 Retention Periods by Data Type
We retain different categories of data for different periods:
- Account information (name, email): Duration of account plus 30 days after deletion
- AI coaching conversations: Duration of account, deleted within 30 days of account deletion
- Journal entries: Duration of account, deleted within 30 days of account deletion
- Mood logs: Duration of account, deleted within 30 days of account deletion
- Images shared in coaching: Transmitted to Anthropic for real-time processing only; not stored permanently on our servers after the coaching response is generated
- Assessment and intake data: Duration of account, deleted within 30 days of account deletion
- Program progress and exercise responses: Duration of account, deleted within 30 days of account deletion
- Couple profile and shared insights: Deleted when either partner unlinks or deletes their account
- Goals and relationship wins: Duration of account, deleted within 30 days of account deletion
- Transaction and billing records: Retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance
4.3 After Account Deletion
When you delete your account:
- Personal data is deleted within 30 days
- Anonymized/aggregated data may be retained indefinitely
- Backup copies may persist for up to 90 days
- Data required for legal compliance (such as billing records) may be retained longer as specified above
4.4 Inactive Accounts
Accounts inactive for more than 24 months may be subject to deletion after notification.
5. Data Security
5.1 Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL)
- Encryption at rest (AES-256)
- Secure password hashing
- Regular security audits
- Access controls and authentication
- Intrusion detection systems
5.2 Data Compliance
Seluna Care functions as a wellness tool and is not subject to HIPAA. AI-generated insights are educational and informational, not medical advice or treatment.
5.3 Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials secure
- Using a secure device and network
- Logging out of shared devices
- Notifying us of suspected unauthorized access
5.4 Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will:
- Notify affected users within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach
- Provide details about the nature of the breach and data affected
- Describe the measures taken to address the breach
- Offer guidance on steps you can take to protect yourself
- Report to relevant data protection authorities as required by applicable law

You have the right to:

You may request deletion of your account and personal data:

6.4 Communication Preferences
You may opt out of:

- Push notifications (via device settings)

You cannot opt out of essential service communications (billing, security alerts, legal notices).
6.5 Data Processing Objection

7. Children's Privacy
Seluna Care is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

8. International Users
8.1 Data Transfer

International Data Transfers

- Data processing agreements with all sub-processors, including our AI provider (Anthropic)

10. AI and Automated Decision-Making
10.1 How AI Uses Your Data
Seluna (powered by Anthropic's Claude) processes your inputs to generate personalized responses. Data sent to the AI includes:
- Your messages, questions, and any images you share during coaching sessions
- Your assessment results and personal profile summary
- Your program progress and focus areas
- Journal entry summaries (not full entries) for coaching context
- Mood trend data for personalized guidance
- For couples: a privacy-filtered summary of couple dynamics (individual responses are never shared)
This data is transmitted to Anthropic via encrypted connection and processed in real-time to generate coaching responses.
10.2 Safety Monitoring and Crisis Detection
For your safety, Seluna Care performs automated keyword monitoring on:
- Messages sent during coaching sessions
- Journal entries as you write them
This monitoring scans for phrases related to self-harm, suicide, or crisis situations. When concerning keywords are detected:
- Crisis resources and helpline numbers are immediately displayed to you
- No human is notified or alerted (the detection is entirely automated and local)
- No flagged content is stored, shared, or reviewed separately from your normal data
This safety monitoring is performed as a legitimate interest to protect user welfare. You cannot opt out of this feature as it is essential for user safety.
10.3 AI Training — We Do NOT Train on Your Data
Your data is NOT used to train any AI models — neither ours nor Anthropic's.
- Anthropic does not use your data for training under our commercial agreement
- We do not train our own AI models on your conversations, journal entries, or any personal data
- Your privacy is protected, and your personal information stays personal
We may use aggregated, anonymized statistics (like "X% of users completed this program") to improve our content and features, but this cannot identify you.
10.4 Human Review Policy
We do not read, monitor, or review your conversations, journal entries, or personal data.
Human review of your data only occurs if:
- You report an issue and explicitly request investigation
- We receive a valid legal request (subpoena, court order)
- Required to investigate fraud or security threats against our systems
We have no interest in reading your private thoughts. Your data exists to serve you, not us.
10.5 No Solely Automated Decisions
We do not make significant decisions about you based solely on automated processing. AI-generated insights, profiles, and focus areas are informational only and do not determine your access to services, affect your subscription, or have legal or similarly significant effects.
Under GDPR Article 22, you have the right not to be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that produce legal or similarly significant effects. If you believe any automated processing has significantly affected you, you may contact us to request human review of the decision.

Seluna Care is classified as a general wellness tool, not a medical device or mental health service. Our AI coach provides educational content, self-reflection prompts, and general wellness guidance. It does not provide therapy, counseling, diagnosis, or treatment of any mental health condition.
15.2 State-Specific AI Disclosures
Seluna Care's AI features are designed to comply with applicable state laws governing AI in wellness applications. In particular:
- Our AI does not independently provide therapeutic communication, diagnose conditions, detect emotions for clinical purposes, or generate treatment plans
- AI-generated content is educational and informational in nature
- We clearly disclose that Seluna is an AI-powered tool, not a human professional
- Crisis detection features are automated safety measures, not clinical assessments
